Lilacs, dandelions, and a beach far away
A post in which I will make no effort to tie my thoughts together
I came across a vulnerable snail on my way to the studio the other morning, and in lieu of picking it up, I decided to make a path so that anyone who happened across it might take notice, and beware the snail. There were only a few dandelions nearby.
The next day I was pleased to see that not only had the snail reached its destination, but the dandelions who had been sacrificed to be a path, had bloomed anyway, spreading their seeds across the sidewalk.
Lilac season is almost over here in Massachusetts, and although I am late, it is my duty to remind you about my book, Under the Lilacs, which I am still very proud of.
My friends and family helped me make a really fun book trailer, in which my mother performed the music (the book also features a flute playing mother):

Seven years later and we are still drawing together:
What Auggie was drawing then versus now:
Last night I had a vision of being on a beach in Italy, and suddenly looking over and seeing Green in the distance…
…and what it would feel like to be surprised by seeing someone I love so far away, across the world, so small, and fluffy.
I think Green Goes to Italy is your next picture book idea!
The trailers is so nice... and Green is there!
I am writing a book, where can I learn basic techniques about painting? To add some simple illustrations.
Thanks! 🪻
