Robin in the world
and leaving things far away
Recently, I escaped to an island for a last minute adventure with my family. After immersing myself in book promotion for months prior, this felt like a miracle. There was very little internet on the island. We stayed in a national park and bathed in rain water. We made friends with giant hermit crabs, wild baby chickens, and sea turtles. We awed at the wild donkeys that merely tolerated us (and sometimes didn’t) as they blocked the only path to the beach. We kept a lizard count each day.
And now I’m back in the real world, working on my next book and reflecting on the amazing community support for the release of Robin and the Stick.

As Robin has started to ripple out into the world, I’d like to share some of the meaningful feedback I’ve heard so far, starting with this which just stopped me dead:
“…my 2.5-year-old has [it] completely memorized. It’s part of us now.”
-Clarke Doster from Book Party
Or this, which is taken from perhaps the most validating analysis I’ve ever experienced as a creator:
“This has been the single most frequently referenced book in my circles lately, but mostly by my own little boy. It is a simple and pure masterpiece, easy to read, and easy to reread…”
-Deborah Furchtgott from The Children’s Bookroom
Or this real life reenactment of the book that unfolded in real time!

I held Robin so tightly, for so long, and now I’m letting Robin off into the world. Thank you all for helping these little books will find their way.
