…in which your friend tells you about a book. Their book1, which they’ve been working on. Your brain hears the name of the book and starts writing new words. You barely wake up and scribble the words down, so that you can tell your friend about it later in real life. Then you forget about it, because it’s not your book, it’s your friend’s book.
A year and a half goes by and you stumble across that scribbled dream note, and finally, fully realize that your brain wrote that book! You still feel the need to ask your friend permission to work on it in real life. They laugh at you and say yes.
Are you still with me? “You” is me. “The Friend” is Julia Denos. “The Book” is:
This book was not only born in a dream, but was also a dream to work on. It’s full of baby animals and tiny tomatoes and the sweet, doting moon, of course.

I’ll be sharing more about the book and events in the coming months, but for now, just wanted to let you see the cover, endpapers, and a few shots of the art in progress…
This book is great for new babies, but it also is for new parents, so they can remember during those tough early days that their smaller self is still inside them - they still are who they are…as they embark on a big, new, journey.
This is actually the first of two books I have coming out this year, so I’ll be doing my duty of chatting them up, which means you might hear from me a little more frequently than usual but I will try to keep it interesting. Keep an eye out for giveaways!
Goodbye for now from this enigmatic hippo that was given to me by my editor… who knows me so well. But this poor girl doesn’t have a name yet. Let me know if you think of one.
The book that Julia was working on at the time of my dream was Star Crossed. In the dream, she told me that the original title for Star Crossed was “Moon Memory,” which is the phrase that jumpstarted my mind into writing words. Anyway, Star Crossed is STUNNING in real life! I highly recommend it. And it will always be the grandparent book of The Moon Remembers.
I love that this came to you in a dream! I have seen a HUGE number of references lately to keeping track of your dreams for story ideas, and this is another example. Also this book looks gorgeous, congrats!
Eeep! So excited for this book!💗 Dreams can be SO amazing! I love the not surprising connection between you and Julia!🌟 And I love STAR CROSSED! Yay for more of your books!💗💗💗
